Huxley Hardware Kits

This blog post will continuously be updated to let you know where and how to get your Huxley Kits!

I love my Huxley Bag pattern! It's a convertible backpack that can also be a cross body bag and a bike bag! I absolutely love this pattern, but I know that finding all the hardware for a project like this can be intimidating. So I've set up some kit options for you!

There are two shops that carry my kits right now, and a third in the works.

First, my own shop! I offer lots of different options, in both Nickel Plate and Antique Brass, and I ship worldwide. I break down your options for my shop kits below.

Second, SewingSupplies on Etsy. This is where I source some of my hardware for the kits, and where I get my webbing. It's a great shop that ships fast and is cheaper than what I can offer! But, they only ship to the US. Definitely check out their Huxley Bag Kit listing, which has the basic purse hardware that you need. And check out their synthetic cotton webbing, which I love.

Third: Tandy Leather! There are stores all over the US, and also in Canada and Spain. I'm including a list here of exactly the items I purchase from Tandy, with the item numbers included in case you would like to go through them.

Here is what I include in my kit, along with the corresponding item numbers. You may end up with a lot of extra for some of the pieces, but then you can use them with even more projects! :)

10 Large rapid rivets - #1275-15 for Antique Brass Plate or #1275-12 for Nickel Plate , comes in packages of 100 pcs
33 Medium rapid rivets - #1273-15 for Antique Brass Plate or #1273-12 for Nickel Plate , comes in packages of 100 pcs
1 Rotary Punch - #3220-00
1 Line 24 Snap tool - #8058-00
1 Rivet setter - #8100-00
1 Anvil - #8056-00
8 Line 24 snaps - #1263-04 for Antique Brass Plate or #1263-02 for Nickel Plate , comes in packages of 10

I get my hardware pieces from SewingSupplies (which doesn't ship internationally), but Tandy does have some options as well:

2 D rings (1") - #1132-61 for Antique Brass Plate, in a package of 6 or #1132-12 for Nickel Plate, comes in package of 10
2 O-rings (1.25") - #1182-61 for Antique Brass Plate in packages of 6, or #1182-10 for Nickel Plate , comes in packages of 10
2 snap swivel hooks/lobster claws (1") - #1157-02 for Antique brass Plate but I couldn't find one for Nickel Plate
2 rectangle rings (1") - Could not find Antique Brass option, but #1137-04 for Nickel Plate, comes in packages of 10
2 strap adjusters (1") - I couldn't find any at tandy. But here are some shops on etsy that offer them (and some of the other hardware as well): CRAFTMEstudio (Thailand) CelloexpressBags (in the UK) LeatherWorldStore (in the UK)

(note: D rings could also easily be used in place of the rectangle rings)

Also, I use a mallet to set my hardware. I use rubber, but wooden would work too - #3446-00

Lastly: I'm on the lookout for (and talking to a few) international suppliers that have everything in one place, and are willing to have a kit option for me. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

All in one place:

If you want everything all in one place, and/or if you aren't in the US, my shop gives you lots of options. 5 in each finish to be exact!

Option 1: Everything you need, all in one.
This includes two 1" slide adjusters, two 1" swivel snap hooks, two 1" rectangle rings, two 1" D-rings, two 1.5" circle rings, 33 medium rapid rivets, 10 large rapid rivets, 8 pairs of line 24 snaps, one rivet setter, one snap setter, one rotary hole punch, and one rivet/snap anvil.

Option 2: Everything but the Tools.
This includes two 1" slide adjusters, two 1" swivel snap hooks, two 1" rectangle rings, two 1" D-rings, two 1.5" circle rings, 33 medium rapid rivets, 10 large rapid rivets, and 8 pairs of line 24 snaps.

Option 3: Just the basic hardware.
(NOTE: If you live in the U.S. head over to the SewingSupplies shop on Etsy. They have a Huxley basic hardware kit that is cheaper than I offer!) This includes two 1" slide adjusters, two 1" swivel snap hooks, two 1" rectangle rings, two 1" D-rings, and two 1.5" circle rings.

Option 4: Rivets, Snaps, and the Tools.
This kit includes 33 medium rapid rivets, 10 large rapid rivets, 8 pairs of line 24 snaps, one rivet setter, one snap setter, one rotary hole punch, and one rivet/snap anvil.

Option 5: Rivets and Snaps, but no Tools.
This kit includes 33 medium rapid rivets, 10 large rapid rivets, and 8 pairs of line 24 snaps.

The reason I offer so many kit options is to help you make your bag exactly what you want it to be! Don't hesitate to ask me for specific combinations too! I'm all about making The Huxley as easy as possible for you to create!
