I've been experimenting lately with my monthly cover pages. I've realized that a purely decorative spread is one that I don't turn back to very often, which is a shame when I put a lot of artistic effort into it. So this moth, I decided to spread out the "cover spread" pages to ensure that my decorations are incorporated into my more useful spreads. Above, you can see that my beachy July ocean spread also has my aims page in the water, which is something that I look back at often throughout the month. Turning the page, under my dutch door of waves is my monthly calendar, slightly condensed horizontally because of the dutch door. My habits page is supposed to look like two floaties hanging out in a pool. And it kind of does. But my experimental water doesn't quite look right to me, and highlighter bright gel pens I used to fill in my habits seem to disappear in some lighting. Which can be an issue when I'm constantly on the go. The second half of my decoration for the month has my quote containing my word of the year (still). "You can be still and still moving. Content even in your discontent." I love this quote, and the way it challenges me to both strive for things that I want, and also accept where I am at in life. I also like my second attempt at a pool scene here better than my first attempt on the habits page. The other side of this spread was my finances page, which I simply left out of the photos instead of blurring out this month. My journal and July Review pages were both fishy and a little more minimal. I especially like the way my whale shark turned out. My weeklies for July were defined by my attempt at a ombre cascading dutch door waves. I also made a specific space for my alastair method rolling tasks. The rest of the space I left pretty blank for my notes, menu ideas, and daily breakdowns. Sometimes I like seeing the pages before I've filled them in better. So much more potential to an empty page. And so much less of my messy handwriting!
